Since the end of World War II, the United Nations has sent peacekeeping forces to many areas in the world, to help maintain peace and order. Canada's military, as peacekeepers', has been very involved in missions that took place at the Suez Canal, Cyprus, the Congo, Rwanda, and Afghanistan. Many Canadian military personnel have lost their lives during these events and many have suffered traumatic experiences.

The student booklet focuses on eleven pertinent issues with regard to the role of Canadian Peacekeepers in International Affairs.
Each section contains the following:
a) Pre-Reading Activities (critical thinking skills, dictionary, and thesaurus skills)
b) Report on the topic – one or two pages in length (includes During Reading questions)
c) Post-Reading Activities (reading comprehension skills and extension activities)
