Switches are used to turn electrical circuits on and off. When they are turned on, they complete the circuit and the electricity flows around it. When they are turned off, they interrupt the circuit and the electricity cannot flow around it. In this activity, you are going to make three different switches, a simple switch, a pressure switch, and a dimmer switch.

You will need a 6-volt battery, 2 pieces of plastic-coated wire: 6 inches each, 1 piece of plastic-coated wire: 10 inches, 2 paper clips, a bulb, and a bulb holder.

Answer key included.
