The long vowels should be taught in the following order: a, e, i, o ,u, and long y.
This lesson teaches the long vowel "Aa".
Each lesson includes teacher information, vowel rules, teaching objectives, a picture card, and 4 worksheets.
Teacher-directed instructions include auditory exercises for whole group instruction. A story or poem to help introduce the vowel and can be displayed on a SMART Board (or another interactive whiteboard) for whole group instruction.
Using the macron ï symbol over long vowel sounds while students are learning the various rules that pertain to vowels will help teach students how to sound out words independently.
